Sometimes you need to get out of town to recharge the batteries but you can't leave for too long. That's why we put together a list of our favorite day trips just in time to enjoy the spring forward this month. All destinations will keep the car time to a minimum of 1 to 2 hours out of the city, so you can maximize your time soaking up the fun. Here's our top picks for you to go day trippin'.  


Malibu Wine Country

When you think of Malibu, does a wine safari come to mind? Well you can have the best of wine country, the beach, and feel like you're on an exotic expedition at Malibu Wine Safaris. Talk about leaving town. Enjoying an African Safari is just a car ride away. If this Malibu experience doesn't ring your bell, there's plenty of other local wineries to explore to get your day trip on.

Solvang Day Trip 



This perfect little town will have you feeling like you left not only L.A., but the USA! Solvang looks like an enchanting  Danish village. Complete with Christmas shops, windmills, and pubs. Quaint bed and breakfasts, cobblestone walkways, and yummy bakeries full of doughy goodness will satisfy your sweet tooth for desserts and a trip across the pond. At least for the weekend. 


Big Bear Day Trip

Escape to the mountain fresh air and take a deep breathe! Big Bear is a great destination even without that white powder on the mountain. The cute village is situated around a lake, so you know what that means. All the water sports you can think of. If staying grounded is more your speed, rent a bike and hit the trails. Or strap on your hiking boots and hoof it out. Big Bear is the best place to get that dust off from the city, and refresh your active limbs in mother nature. Grab breakfast or lunch in town on the cozy streets below. You're sure to love this place. Cabins are plentiful and available to rent if you just can't tear yourself away come dusk. 


Stearns Wharf Santa Barbara

It's pretty easy to fall in love with Santa Barbara. The ever popular Stearn's Wharf with eateries and views is hard to beat and a must to see. Santa Barbara Harbor deserves just as much admiration, especially when it's Seafood Festival time. State Street is known for it's upbeat energy due to it's collection of shops and restaurants, bound to be great for people watching too. There's plenty of trails to hike or winding hillside roads to drive for amazing views if that's what you crave. You might even have time to fit in a visit to the Santa Barbara Zoo, 30 acres of gardens and animals overlooking the ocean, you don't want to miss it. 


Temecula Wineries



With over 30 wineries, who needs to go all the way to Napa Valley to get their sip on. Temecula boasts a plethora of wineries to choose from. But if you ask us, the sourdough bread oozing with brie at Maurice Car'rie Winery sounds right up our alley. And the Temecula way to end a tasting day... in a hot air balloon drinking in the sunset of course.

Laguna Beach Day Trip

Laguna has so much to offer, it's the perfect destination for the day. You can shop, you can hike, you can sunbathe, you can even camp out if you want turn this day trip into an overnighter. Escape the average beach crowd by heading to the tide pools on Treasure Island Beach. If that doesn't feed your ocean soul, head over to the Marine Mammals Center to get up close and personal. Take a hike, literally. There's hiking trails galore, pick between the acres upon acres of lush hillsides or exquisite canyons. Shop you heart out and then partake in a luscious scoop in the waffle cones you can smell wafting from the charming Peppertree Lane's Gelato Paradiso.  Before you head out, you have to roam around Crystal Cove State Park, which offers a camp friendly atmosphere if you decide to clear your schedule and another day.
