When determining the cost of your move, the following elements are taken into account:
There is no hourly rate charge for the labor required to load and unload the truck. We always assign the optimal number of movers to every job in order to maximize productivity. Additional services such as packing and unpacking, are completed at the same hourly rate as local moving.
The rate quoted will include the manpower and vehicles. All Oz vehicles are custom, state-of-the-art air ride vehicles with lift gates and GPS tracking.
Boxes and Packing Materials
Boxes and packing materials are charged as used. If you are packed up and ready to go, or provide your own adequate boxes and materials, you will not incur the additional expense. In the event an item, such as a glass or marble table top or glass doors, requires a cardboard crate, the foreman will advise you of the cost and the crate will be made on the spot. You will only be charged for actual materials used. Also, Oz Moving & Storage does not accept any goods in paper or plastic bags; all loose items, including televisions, electronics, lamps, pictures and mirrors must be boxed for safety and will not be carried loose.
It is very important for your project manager to know about any factors that may impede the delivery, including narrow/dirt/poorly paved roads, and bridges, any factor that would prevent a tractor trailer from pulling up in front of the destination. Also, long carries (over 75 feet from the point where the truck may park and the door to the destination), long carries in the freight entrance of the building (from the door to the elevator) or difficult delivery conditions. Certain conditions that require additional labor or a “shuttle truck” (a smaller vehicle required to shuttle the goods from the tractor trailer to the destination if a tractor trailer cannot make the delivery) will increase the cost of the move. Please bring any concerns and information to the attention of your project manager.
Oz maintains general liability insurance cover in excess of $5,000,000, as well as Workers Compensation and Disability insurance. This allows us access to every building in the tri-state area.
Although the very best care will be taken when handling your belongings, accidental damage is sometimes inevitable given the nature of this business. We recommend our long distance clients opt for insurance coverage with independent nationwide carriers, such as Baker International (www.bakerintl.com) and Movinginsurance.com. These companies offer full replacement value insurance and have adjusters nationwide. Coverage must be obtained in advance of the move day.
For long distance moves, the minimum valuation provided by the mover at no cost to the shipper is $.60 cents per pound per article. This means the shipper (customer), regardless of the actual value, declares a maximum value of the goods $.60 cents per pound per article, pays nothing, and in the event of a loss, will recover a maximum of $.60 per pound based on the weight of the lost or damaged item.
Forms of Payment
A minimum payment of 50% of the total cost is required upon pickup; the balance is due upon delivery. We accept cash, money orders, traveler’s checks, Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express upon pickup. Credit cards are not accepted upon delivery (cash, money orders, traveler’s checks only); if you would like to pay for the entire move by credit card, the entire amount must be paid upon pickup. When paying with a credit card, the card and cardholder must be present (credit cards are not accepted over the phone).
